Code of Conduct

Serious Misconduct

  • Conduct that violates the rights or salary of other learners.
  • Criminal behaviour of any kind.
  • Defacing or destroying school property.
  • Disrespectful or objectionable conduct and verbal abuse directed at teachers, other school employees and learners.
  • Outright defiance of lawful request or instruction issued by persons in authority.
  • Indulging in harmful graffiti, racism or hate speech.
  • Sexual harassment or sexual assault.
  • Processing or possession, sale using or displaying evidence of use of any narcotics, unauthorised drugs, alcohol or any other intoxicant.
  • Repeated infringements of the school rules, even general offence.
  • Possession of dangerous weapons ( guns, knives and other objects which may threaten the lives of learners/teachers; Pregnancy Strictly Prohibited;
  • Theft of examination question paper, being in possession or sale of such examination question paper.

Punishment Procedure

  • Any learner who has broken any rule and faces expulsion should be brought before the school principal, pregnancy followed by Six Months Suspension as it affects the decorum of the school.
  • The school principal should inform the parent or guardian of the intended steps and make arrangements for a fair hearing before the SGB or disciplinary committee.
  • The disciplinary procedures should take place in a fair, open and transparent way and the hearing should be closed to all except the parties involved.

General Offences

  •  Absence, failure to attend class on time, leaving class without permission.
  • Coming late and failing to attend class on time.
  • Use of offensive language.
  • Improper school uniform.
  • Failure to do homework.
  • Possession of a cell phone.

Punishment Procedure

  • Verbal or written warning by an education or school principal.
  • Deterrent detention, replacement or repair of damage property; confiscation.
  • Suspension from certain school activities e.g. sport.
